‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ Drops an Extended Look Trailer
So many Spideys
Sony Pictures is giving Spidey fans an extended look at the upcoming animated-feature “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”. The film is gearing up to swing into theaters this December and will bring a wide-array of popular Spider-Man characters to the big-screen.
Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, the film will feature the voice-talents of Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, and Lily Tomlin. The story introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one hero can wear the mask and protect the citizens of New York City. The film is set to open against Universal Pictures’ sci-fi epic “Mortal Engines” and will be ready for the holiday rush.
It will be interesting to see how the animated-adventures of Spider-Man stack up against the live-action version of the hero at the box-office. Sony’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” debuted in 2017 with a $117M weekend before going on to make over $334M domestically. The film, which was Sony’s first Spider-Man installment since lending the iconic hero to Marvel for “Captain America: Civil War,” made over $880M worldwide. Then Spider-Man played a major role in “Avengers: Infinity War” for Marvel, which made $257M on opening weekend before grossing over $2B worldwide for the studio.
For the die-hard fans of live-action Spider-Man, there’s still “Spider-Man: Far From Home” to look forward to. That film is the follow-up to “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 5, 2019. While the plot of that film is being kept a secret, for now, we do know that it was directed by Jon Watts and will once again feature Tom Holland as the titular character. We will just have to wait a little longer to get a sneak-peek at that film, hopefully Sony Pictures won’t keep us waiting too long.
“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” will hit theaters on December 14, 2018.
