‘Five Feet Apart’ Trailer: Haley Lu Richardson and Cole Sprouse Find Impossible Love
Nothing is ever easy in a teen love story
The box office hasn’t had a really big YA teen romance in a while and CBS Films is hoping to capitalize on the drought with “Five Feet Apart”. Starring Haley Lu Richardson and Cole Sprouse, the romantic drama is set to hit theater in March but you can get an early look at the film thanks to the official trailer that was released today.
Directed by Justin Baldoni, the film was written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis. In the story, Stella Grant (Haley Lu Richardson) is seventeen years-old. You can find her on her laptop or with her best friends most of the time, but unlike most teenagers, she spends much of her time living in a hospital as a cystic fibrosis patient. Her life is full of routines, boundaries and self-control — all of which is put to the test when she meets an impossibly charming fellow CF patient named Will Newman (Cole Sprouse). The studio teases the story adding, “There’s an instant flirtation, though restrictions dictate that they must maintain a safe distance between them. As their connection intensifies, so does the temptation to throw the rules out the window and embrace that attraction. Further complicating matters is Will’s potentially dangerous rebellion against his ongoing medical treatment. Stella gradually inspires Will to live life to the fullest, but can she ultimately save the person she loves when even a single touch is off limits?”
Fans probably know Haley Lu Richardson best from her roles in “The Edge of Seventeen,” “Split,” and “The Bronze,” while you might remember Cole Sprouse from CW’s hit YA series “Riverdale”.
“Five Feet Apart” is set to hit theaters on March 22, 2019. That puts the film against Tom Hanks’ “Greyhound” and “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” with Cate Blanchett, Kristen Wiig, Judy Greer, Billy Crudup, and Laurence Fishburne. The other big releases that month are “Captain Marvel” at the beginning of the month with Brie Larson, and Tim Burton’s “Dumbo” live-action adaptation at the end of the month.
