Disney is moving “Frozen 2” up on the release schedule. The highly-anticipated sequel will release a little soon than expected, with a new premiere date set for the day before Thanksgiving. The film was slated to hit theaters on November 27th, but Frozen fans will be able to see the film the night before Turkey Day on November 22nd.

There was an untitled Fox and Marvel movie scheduled for that date, it was just a place holder for a future project, but when Walt Disney Studios takes over FOX in the future it will most likely keep the date clear for “Frozen 2”.

“Frozen” was a Thanksgiving Day smash when it hit theaters back in 2013. The original story had a limited-release on November 22nd, while “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” was still dominating the box-office, but still made over $243K in just one location. After its nationwide release on November 27th the film brought in $67M over the weekend and made over $1.2B worldwide. The original still holds the record for the best Thanksgiving opener over five days, after the film made over $93M. “Frozen” was directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and featured the voice talents of Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, Idina Menzel, and Alan Tudyk.

Both directors are returning to the sequel, along with Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, Evan Rachel Wood, and Sterling K. Brown. Disney has been keeping the plot of “Frozen 2” a secret and we don’t have any teaser trailers to share just yet.

Disney‘s next big release is “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” opening this weekend nationwide, and the film was directed by Lasse Hallström and Joe Johnston. That project features Mackenzie Foy, Keira Knightley, and Morgan Freeman. The big Turkey Day release this year is “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” scheduled to release on November 21st, from directors Phil Johnston and Rich Moore. That film features the voice talents of Sarah Silverman, John C. Reilly, and Gal Gadot. You will also hear Kristen Bell, Mandy Moore, Alan Tudyk, and almost a dozen or so famous actors that have voiced characters from previous Disney films throughout the story.
