New Line Cinema released an official trailer for the romantic comedy “Isn’t It Romantic,” starring Rebel Wilson (“How to Be Single,” the “Pitch Perfect” films), Liam Hemsworth (the “Hunger Games” films), Adam Devine (“The Intern,” the “Pitch Perfect” films) and Priyanka Chopra (“Quantico,” “Baywatch”). The film is getting a Valentine’s Day release and was directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson (“A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas,” “The Final Girls”). The film points out all of the clichés we have grown to expect in the genre, only this time, Rebel Wilson is the only one that sees it.
In the film, New York City architect Natalie is trying to advance her career while constantly being ignored at the office. Natalie, a lifelong cynic when it comes to love, has an encounter with a mugger that renders her unconscious, waking to discover that her life has suddenly become her worst nightmare—a romantic comedy—and she is the leading lady.
Wilson stars as Natalie, alongside Liam Hemsworth as Blake, a handsome client; Adam Devine as her earnest best friend, Josh; and Priyanka Chopra as yoga ambassador Isabella. Strauss-Schulson directs from a screenplay by Erin Cardillo and Dana Fox & Katie Silberman.
“Isn’t It Romantic” will release on February 14th nationwide. The Valentine’s Day release date is perfect for the story, but puts the film against some big releases. Opening that same weekend are the sci-fi actioner “Alita: Battle Angel” and the horror-thriller “Happy Death Day 2U”. Over the last few years films like “Fifty Shades of Grey” and “Deadpool” have conquered the couple’s holiday, pushing other films to the beginning and ending of February. Those two franchises have left a heart-shaped hole in the schedule, and three films will be fighting for your attention to fill it this year.
