Hallmark Channel’s ‘Countdown to Christmas’ is Already a Hit

It’s no secret that Hallmark Channel is the home of all-things Christmas going into the holiday season. If you wanted to, you could stream Holiday magic into your house from November 1st through Christmas Day with Hallmark’s backlog of originals and specials. The highly-anticipated beginning of the 2018 “Countdown to Christmas” programming event on Friday drove the network to become the highest-rated and most-watched cable network for the entire weekend among households, women aged 25-54 and Total Viewers. That’s a big win for the network this year and we have so many more movies and events to get through.

Saturday’s world premiere of the first original movie premiere of the holiday season, “Christmas at Pemberley Manor”, averaged a 3.2 Household rating and was the highest-rated and most-watched cable program of the day, excluding sports. The special event was also the second highest-rated and most-watched of the week, excluding news and sports. Additionally, the premiere elevated Hallmark Channel to be the highest-rated and most-watched cable network on Saturday among Households, women aged 25-54, and Total Viewers, again excluding sports.

This year’s “Countdown to Christmas” initiative will feature 22 new original premieres over the course of ten weeks, with new movies every Saturday and Sunday, in addition to an extended Thanksgiving week event with new movies Wednesday through Sunday. The network’s 2017 event made Hallmark Channel the highest-rated and most-watched cable network among Women 25-54 for all of the Fourth Quarter. The network certainly has a lot to celebrate and we aren’t even into November yet. The “Christmas at Pemberley Manor” premiere averaged 3.6 million Total Viewers and 692,000 Women aged 25-54 to get things rolling and the show out-delivered the major broadcast networks, ABC, CBS, and NBC in the Saturday, 8-10p time period among Women aged 25-54 and Women aged 18-49. In a world of non-stop streaming that isn’t easy to do. The special was also Hallmark Channel’s highest-rated and most-watch original movie premiere in 2018 to-date among Households, women aged 25-54, Total Viewers, and all key demos; and reached nearly 4.8 million unduplicated viewers.

Not a bad start to the holidays for the Hallmark Channel and they are just getting started.
