‘Disney’s Christopher Robin’ Goes Digital in November
The whole gang is coming back
Grab some honey and a best friend, Disney is releasing “Christopher Robin” on Digital HD and the Movies Anywhere App on November 6th. The live-action film features Winnie the Pooh and friends as they venture into mid-century London to help grown-up Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor). The film will also release on Blu-ray and DVD the same day.
The story features A.A. Milne’s timeless characters from the Hundred Acre Wood — Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit and Owl — making their first appearance as three-dimensional characters who remind Christopher Robin, and viewers of all ages, to appreciate the simple pleasures in life.
“When you are able to make people laugh and cry in the same movie and you are able to tell the story with integrity and ground it in reality and have the magic realism on top of it, it lifts your spirits and connects you with the people you love,” says director Marc Forster. “We could all use a little bit of Pooh’s heart and wisdom right now.”
The film did well in theaters, opening in second-place behind “Mission Impossible: Fallout” with a $24M weekend. “Christopher Robin” went on to make over $98M domestically and over $180M worldwide for Disney. The project was directed by Marc Forster. working from a script written by Alex Ross Perry, and Allison Schroeder. The film featured Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell.
Disney’s next big project is “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,’ which features Keira Knightley, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, and Matthew MacFadyen. That film is scheduled to release in theaters on November 2nd and was directed by Lasse Hallstrom.
