Universal Pictures is bumping up the release date for the next “How to Train Your Dragon” movie. Originally set to release on March 1, 2019, “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” will now new release one week early on February 22, 2019. You can’t complain about seeing the lovable Toothless a little early.

The new date will offer a nice buffer from “Captain Marvel” on March 8th and the film is still two-weeks away from “The LEGO Movie 2” which releases on February 8th. The new installment is a culmination of one of the highest-grossing animated franchises in the business, and it’s bringing back a lot of the same cast. The new chapter will once again feature Hiccup and Toothless and the lovable duo discover their true destinies. Our trusty human will be the ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, and the dragon is set to be the leader of his own kind.

DreamWorks teased the film adding, “As both ascend, the darkest threat they’ve yet faced—as well as the appearance of a female Night Fury—will test the bonds of their relationship like never before.”

Series Director Dean DeBlois is returning to the franchise, alongside the all-star cast. The project is produced by Brad Lewis (Ratatouille, ANTZ) and How to Train Your Dragon series producer Bonnie Arnold (Toy Story, Tarzan).

The first “How to Train Your Dragon” opened back in 2010 with a $43M domestic debut. The animated-comedy went on to make over $217M domestically and over $494M worldwide. The sequel did even better, opening with $49M before grossing over $177M domestically. Thanks to international sales, “How to Train Your Dragon 2” topped the original when it made over $621M worldwide. “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” will feature the voice-talents of Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Cate Blanchett, Kit Harrington, Craig Ferguson, and F. Murray Abraham.

If you need to set a reminder, Universal Pictures will release “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” on 2.22.2019.
