Square Enix is bringing a wide-array of hits to New York Comic Con this year. The publisher will offer hands-on demos of “Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age,” “Kingdom Hearts III,” “The Last Remnant Remastered,” “Life is Strange 2,” and “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” for eager fans looking to see the new titles. Advance tickets to play the “Kingdom Hearts III” demo will be distributed at the booth at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time each day.
Other activities at New York Comic Con include a “Just Cause 4” showcase with the devs. Fans can join key members of the New York based development team – Avalanche Studios – as they talk exclusively about the next game in the hugely popular, multi-million selling Just Cause series. The game itself is set in the fictional South American world of Solis. Just Cause 4 takes the destruction and unique physics the series is known for to a whole new level with the introduction of fully simulated tornadoes and other Extreme Weather events. Rico Rodriguez returns in with his trademark parachute, wingsuit and, of course his grappling hook, now enhanced with new functionality and fully customizable, making it the most powerful and creative tool the player has ever had. Daily giveaways at the booth while supplies last include merchandise and Life is Strange 2 t-shirts.
The full lineup of SQUARE ENIX games includes:
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, already available on PS4 and STEAM. The game tells the story of a hunted hero and is the long-awaited role-playing game from series creator Yuji Horii, character designer Akira Toriyama, and composer Koichi Sugiyama. While it is the eleventh mainline entry, the game is a completely standalone experience and features entirely new characters, a beautifully detailed world, finely tuned strategic combat, and an immersive story.
The publisher will also be promoting “Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition,” already available for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 system. The game is an all-new adventure that retells the beloved story of Final Fantasy XV, giving fans and newcomers alike the freedom to journey through Eos with crown prince Noctis and his brothers in arms with fully voiced key event scenes and faithfully recreated battles. All of the treasured moments from the original game, like driving the Regalia across landscapes, camping, Chocobo riding and more, can be experienced in a whole new way with the game’s creatively reimagined art style and in HD resolution. There’s also the new Final Fantasy Trading Card Game, designed by former trading card game champion Taro Kageyama. The game blends strategy, luck and fast-paced gameplay making it very versatile and appealing to all kinds of audiences. The “Opus VI” series of cards was released in July.
We already mentioned Just Cause 4, which is launching in December for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC, and Kingdom Hearts III which is launching in January for the Xbox One and PS4. In the new Kingdom Hearts title, players can join forces with Donald Duck and Goofy for the adventure of a lifetime traveling across worlds based on beloved films like Disney•Pixar’s Toy Story, and Monsters, Inc., and Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Big Hero 6, Tangled, Frozen, Pirates of the Caribbean and more. Attendees will be able to experience a boss battle against the Rock Titan from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Hercules and uncover the Toy Box world from Toy Story alongside Woody and Buzz.
If you’re a fan of “The Last Remnant,” look for the Remastered edition in December for PS4. Originally released in 2008, the new title offers enhanced graphics enabled by Unreal Engine 4, allowing for a more immersive and captivating adventure than ever before. The game tells the story of a world filled with “Remnants” — ancient artifacts that grant mysterious power to their wielders, changing the world’s balance and leading to an era of countless frays between those who ruled, and those who obeyed. Within this war-torn fantasy world, players will follow the journey of a young man who is determined to uncover the truth.
Also available now is “Life is Strange 2,” for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The award winning series continues with a new 5-episode story from original developers, DONTNOD Entertainment. Don’t forget about “Shadow of the Tomb Raider,” available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. In the game Lara must master a deadly jungle, overcome terrifying tombs, and persevere through her darkest hour. As she races to save the world from a Maya apocalypse, Lara will ultimately be forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be.
