The new “Bumblebee” trailer is out, teasing the return of the Transformers franchise ahead of the film’s December premiere. Paramount Pictures will release the film on December 21, 2018 and the film stars Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., John Ortiz, Jason Drucker, Pamela Adlon, and Stephen Schneider.
Travis Knight directed the new installment, working off a screenplay from Christina Hodson and Kelly Fremon Craig. Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner, Mark Vahradian, and Chris Brigham served as Executive Producers on the film.
The first installment in the franchise made over $319M domestically before reaching $709M globally; and the sequel made $402M domestically before topping $836M worldwide. Things were going well and “Transformers 3” was the first film in the franchise to break $1B worldwide at the box office. Following that success, “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “Transformers: Age of Extinction” both hit the $1B mark worldwide following their release dates. “Transformers: The Last Knight” was a different story, the film only made $130M domestically and just $605M worldwide. While that is still a lot of money for a film to make, it’s almost half the gross of the other films. Hopefully a new director and a new female lead will be able to save the franchise.
You can watch the latest “Bumblebee” trailer below, the film is set to hit theaters on December 21, 2019. That’s the same release day as “Alita: Battle Angel,” “Aquaman,” the Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly comedy “Holmes & Watson” and the drama “Welcome to Marwen,” so Bumblebee will have a lot of competition. Other big releases set for December include “Under the Silver Lake,” “Mortal Engines,” “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse,” and Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns” which is opening just before “Bumblebee” does.
