The young-adult hit “Siren” will be coming to New York Comic-Con this year, bringing secrets and teasers for the show’s next season. Freeform announced today that the network will bring the cast and executive producers of the popular mermaid drama to the event for a panel on Thursday, October 4th. The cast and creators will explore the behind-the-scenes secrets of the show, recap season one, and reveal what fans can expect from the highly anticipated second season when it premieres in January. If you are coming to New York Comic Con with us, you can expect to see stars Eline Powell (‘Ryn’), Alex Roe (‘Ben’), Fola Evans-Akingbola (‘Maddie’) and executive producers Emily Whitesell and Eric Wald.
With only one season under its belt, “Siren” has already proved to be a welcomed hit for Freeform’s primetime lineup. The series was the top new cable drama during its spring run among Women 18-49 and the most socially engaging new cable drama, yielding 4.83 million engagements across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Google +. That’s not too surprising though, as Freeform usually crushes anything in its path on social-media engagements.
Fans of the show should be excited to see season two, the follow up season will bring more mermaids to the coastal town of Bristol Cove but we don’t know if they are friendly or deadly. In the second season, Marine researchers Ben (Alex Roe) and Maddie (Fola Evans-Akingbola) continue to establish a bond with mermaid Ryn (Eline Powell), not only to protect her, but to try to help save her entire civilization.
While we don’t have an exact premiere date at this time, we do know that the show will return to Freeform in January. Hopefully we will get a few teasers and a premiere date at New York Comic-Con next month.
“Siren” is executive produced by Eric Wald and Emily Whitesell, who serves as showrunner. Dean White, Brad Luff, Nate Hopper and RD Robb also serve as executive producers.
