‘Disney’s Jungle Cruise’: Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt Wrap Production
Next stop, theaters worldwide
Over the summer Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson have been filming “Disney’s Jungle Cruise,” an upcoming family-adventurer set to release in theaters in October 2019. This week the duo wrapped filming on the project and celebrated with a video released on social-media for their fans.
“Disney’s Jungle Cruise” was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the same director that brought you the 2016 shark thriller “The Shallows” with Blake Lively. The film also stars Paul Giamatti, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Michael H. Cole. We still don’t have an official trailer for the film yet but a teaser or two may be released over the next few months.
As for the story, the film will be based on Disney’s theme park ride of the same name. The film follows a group of passengers as they make their way down river through a terrifying jungle filled with animals and possible supernatural elements. Fans of Emily Blunt will also see her in the Disney film “Mary Poppins Returns,” which is expected to hit theaters nationwide this December. It would make a lot of sense to have the teaser trailer for “Disney’s Jungle Cruise” play before the showing of that film, so we will most likely get a video of this new project before 2019. “Mary Poppins Returns” was directed by Rob Marshall and stars Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Dick Van Dyke.
The video released today has Johnson and Blunt in their character’s costumes, saying goodbye to the crew that helped create the film. Disney stopped short of setting an exact release date for “Disney’s Jungle Cruise” at this time, but fans can expect the project to hit theaters in October 2019. Fans of Johnson, Blunt, or Disney, can watch the promotional video below.
