From the makers of the hit CW series “Riverdale,” the new series is called “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and tells the story of Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka), a half-witch half-mortal teenage girl. She’s been waiting her whole life for her 16th birthday but she will have to choose between the path of light and the path of night in the new story. The show has been in the works for a while now, a project with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Netflix has already ordered 20 episodes of the new series and the episodes will be released in the one-hour drama format. The series is based on the Archie Comics graphic novel ‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ and should be the perfect Halloween binge-fest for the YA audience.

In the announcement Netflix described the series saying that the story, “imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.”
