Universal Pictures released another trailer for “Halloween” today, the studio had teased the trailer yesterday on social-media to get thriller-fans excited for the big release. The actial film is currently scheduled to hit theaters later this fall.

The new installment to the long-running horror franchise was put together by Trancas International Films, Blumhouse Productions and Miramax; the official release date for the film is set for October 19th.

This time around, Jamie Lee Curtis is reprising her iconic role as Laurie Strode. The studio is teasing that this will be Strode’s “final confrontation with Michael Myers,” who fans should remember is the haunting figure that tried to kill Strode on Halloween night four decades ago. It’s a horror-thriller, so the word “final” doesn’t really mean anything, but fans of the franchise should be excited to see Strode back on the screen.

Curtis also starred in the 1998 film “Halloween H20,” alongside Josh Hartnett, Michelle Williams, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Over the years the “Halloween” franchise has certainly had its ups and downs, but has maintained a loyal fan-base regardless of the duds. The franchise itself has made over $308M across 10 installments, the most recent release was “Halloween” back in 2007. That film made $58M domestically. While the 2007 version isn’t the most popular Halloween film, it does hold the current record for highest box-office gross. Considering the time-span of the releases, the upcoming Halloween film should easily top the other releases after its release, thanks to simple inflation.

“Halloween” will open against the crime-drama “The Hate U Give,” the thriller “Serenity,” and the film “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” starring Cate Blanchett, Kristen Wiig, Judy Greer, Billy Crudup, and Laurence Fishburne.

John Carpenter is serving as executive producer and creative consultant on the film, teaming up with producer Jason Blum (Get Out, Split, The Purge, Paranormal Activity). Joining Jamie Lee Curtis on-screen are Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, Virginia Gardner, and Nick Castle. The film itself was directed by David Gordon Green.
