Disney Drops a Final Trailer for ‘The Nutcracker and The Four Realms’
Disney readies the Nutcracker for release day
The final trailer for Disney’s “The Nutcracker and The Four Realms” released this afternoon. Disney‘s new fantasy-adventure film is scheduled to hit theaters later this Fall, just in time for the holidays.
The magical adaptation will feature quite a few big names, including Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, Jayden Fowora-Knight, Mackenzie Foy, and Matthew Macfadyen. “The Nutcracker and The Four Realms” will be Disney‘s big holiday release this year, with “Ralph Breaks the Internet” set to release a few weeks later from PIXAR.
The industry won’t have a Marvel or Star Wars installment to keep the box-office booming this holiday season, and it will be interesting to see how the holiday box office does without the usual superheros and Jedi backing it up.
In the film, Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key, a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world. Starring Keira Knightley as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Disney’s new holiday feature film “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” is directed by Lasse Hallström and Joe Johnston, and inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s classic tale.
Disney indicated that this will be the final trailer released for the film, fans of the story can watch the new video below.
The Nutcracker and The Four Realms” will release on the same weekend as “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Suspiria,” and “Nobody’s Fool,” the film will then have to battle “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch” and “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” the following week. Disney will release “The Nutcracker and The Four Realms” in theaters on November 2, 2018.
