Olivia Cooke Grabs IMDb’s STARmeter Award
Olivia is becoming a popular name on the STARmeter chart
IMDb announced that the company will be making a stop at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this year. This will be the second year in a row that IMDb will be attending the festival and hosting content for movie-fans online. IMDb has outlined three days (September 7-9) of original content, including celebrity video interviews and a special award for Olivia Cooke.
This year, IMDb Special Correspondent Dave Karger will interview casts and directors from “Life Itself,” “The Hate U Give,” “Widows,” “Mid90s” and other films. IMDb will also present an IMDb STARmeter award to Olivia Cooke, while the popular actor celebrates an amazing year in film. That special event will happen on September 8th, where IMDb Founder and CEO Col Needham will present the IMDb “Breakout Star” STARmeter Award to Olivia Cooke at the IMDb video studio at TIFF. Cooke has been a major player on the IMDbPro STARmeter chart this year, fueled by her performance in the sci-fi hit “Ready Player One” and with her anticipated performances in upcoming releases “Life Itself” (coming to theaters in September 2018) and the television mini-series “Vanity Fair.” This award recognizes the stars who are fan favorites on the IMDbPro STARmeter chart, which is determined by the actual search behavior of the more than 250M unique monthly IMDb visitors worldwide and is updated weekly throughout the year for IMDbPro members. Previous IMDb STARmeter Award Recipients include Sam Rockwell, Bill Skarsgård, Olivia Munn, Brie Larson, Felicity Jones, Peter Dinklage, Miles Teller, John David Washington and Bryce Dallas Howard. IMDb is also hosting a premiere party for “Teen Spirit” to celebrate the IMDbPro app (now available for iPhone and Android). TIFF preview coverage is available now at imdb.com/toronto.
“Our presence at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival will give our hundreds of millions of customers all over the world a first look at the most-anticipated upcoming movies and likely awards season contenders while providing celebrities with the opportunity to talk about their new work at TIFF,” said Col Needham, IMDb Founder and CEO. “We’ll also be connecting with entertainment professionals to celebrate the extraordinary creativity of these new films and the wealth of information at their fingertips with the IMDbPro app for iPhone and Android.”
