FOX released an official “Bad Times at the El Royale” trailer this afternoon, teasing the gigantic cast that the mystery-thriller is offering. The film stars Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, Nick Offerman and Chris Hemsworth, the film is scheduled to hit theaters this fall. Fans of the genre can watch the first official trailer below.

The studio teased the film adding, “Seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at Lake Tahoe’s El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past. Over the course of one fateful night, everyone will have a last shot at redemption… before everything goes to hell.”

“Bad Times at the El Royale” will release one-week after the movies “Venom” with Tom Hardy, and “A Star is Born” with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Those films could spill into thier second week, which could cause trouble for the Royale’s big debut. The films “First Man” with Ryan Gosling, and “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” are opening against “Bad Times at the El Royale,” adding even more competition for the movie.

Things won’t be any easier for Royale’s follow-up week in theaters, the movies “Halloween” with Jamie Lee Curtis; “The Hate U Give” with Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, Anthony Mackie, and Common; and “Serenity” with Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jason Clarke, Djimon Hounsou, and Diane Lane are all opening that week. It will be interesting to see which of the films takes the top spot from week-to-week, and to see how quickly each film falls off the domestic Top Five charts as October over-stuffs the box office again this year. You can watch the first official trailer for the film below.

Drew Goddard wrote and directed “Bad Times at the El Royale,” which is scheduled to hit theaters on October 12, 2018.
