Universal Pictures released the second trailer for “Johnny English” this morning, teasing a few more scenes from the fall comedy. The new installment to the long-running franchise is slated to release on October 26th and fans can start their day with the new trailer below.
The official title for the film is “Johnny English Strikes Again,” the film will be the the third installment of the Johnny English comedy series. Fan favorite actor Rowan Atkinson is returning as the accidental secret agent and he will once again have to save the world as we know it.
The new adventure begins when a cyber-attack reveals the identity of all active undercover agents in Britain, leaving Johnny English as the secret service’s last hope. The studio teased the film adding, “Called out of retirement, English dives head first into action with the mission to find the mastermind hacker. As a man with few skills and analogue methods, Johnny English must overcome the challenges of modern technology to make this mission a success.”
The original “Johnny English” opened in 2003, making $28M domestically before grossing over $160M worldwide. The follow-up film was buried domestically but still made money overseas. “Johnny English: Reborn” released in 2011 against films like “Paranormal Activity 3” and “The Three Musketeers” and only made $8M domestically before grossing $160M worldwide.
This year’s installment will open against the films “Hunter Killer” with Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman, Common, and Michael Nyqvist and the drama “Indivisible”. The big competition will be the previous week’s films, which include “Halloween” with Jamie Lee Curtis, “The Hate You Give” with Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, Anthony Mackie, and Common and “Serenity” with Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jason Clarke, Djimon Hounsou, and Diane Lane.
