‘Unfriended: Dark Web’ Goes Digital This October

The latest chapter in the “Unfriended” franchise is coming to Digital HD and Blu-ray this fall. The horror-thriller will hit small-screens just in time for Halloween, you can add it to your list of films to watch on the spooktacular night. “Unfriended: Dark Web” will release on Digital HD and the digital movie app Movies Anywhere on October 2, 2018, with the Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand versions set to release on October 16, 2018. The film stars Colin Woodell (Unsane, XOXO), Betty Gabriel (Get Out, Upgrade), Rebecca Rittenhouse (“The Mindy Project,” Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot) and Andrew Lees (“The Originals,” “The Pacific”). The film comes from writer and director Stephen Susco (The Grudge) and is produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Unfriended, Hardcore Henry) and Jason Blum (Get Out, Split).

If you missed the film in theaters, the story follows a group of friends who stumble upon mysterious computer files that will change their lives forever. When someone finds a cache of hidden files on his laptop, he and his friends are unwittingly thrust into the depths of the dark web. They soon discover someone has been watching their every move and will go to unimaginable lengths to protect the dark web itself. Featuring three killer alternate endings, the new release offer viewers the chance to watch a variety of unsettling and deadly conclusions.

Put together on a very modest budget, “Unfriended: The Dark Web” was a financial success in theaters. The film debuted back in July with a $3.6M opening before going on to make over $8.7M domestically. The horror-thriller grossed over $9.4M worldwide. The original “Unfriended” released in 2015, the film had a $15M opening and went on to make over $64M worldwide.

The Unfriended 2-Movie Collection will also be available on DVD on October 16th, 2018.
