A24’s horror-thriller “Hereditary” will be available to stream this fall. The studio announced that the film will first release on Digital HD on August 21st, followed by a Blu-ray and DVD release on September 9th. Horror fans can pick-up the title this week to stream on their small-screens, which will be a perfect film to add to your Halloween marathon viewings.

Fans of the genre can find the Digital HD version of “Hereditary” on iTunes, Amazon Video, and Google Play. If you prefer the retail versions, you can find them here on Amazon.

The story picks up when Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away. That’s when Ellen’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited. The film featured Toni Collette, Alex Wolff, Milly Shapiro, Ann Dowd, and Gabriel Byrne. “Hereditary” was written and directed by Ari Aster.

Despite an extremely crowded box-office, “Hereditary” did very well in theaters. The film opened with a $13.5M debut against “Oceans 8” and “Hotel Artemis,” at a time when “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Deadpool 2” were all in theaters. “Hereditary” went on to make over $44M domestically and over $79M worldwide for the studio.

Toni Collette has another horror-thriller in the works for 2019, this one from writer and director Dan Gilroy. That film, called “Velvet Buzzsaw,” will feature Jake Gyllenhaal, Billy Magnussen, Natalia Dyer, John Malkovich, and Rene Russo. We don’t have a premiere date yet for theaters but Collette fans should keep this one on the back-burner for now.

The big horror-thriller release coming up in theaters is “The Nun” from director Corin Hardy. You can grab tickets for that film on sites like Fandango.com.
