Mélanie Laurent Joins Ryan Reynolds in ‘6 Underground’ for Netflix
Payman Maadi has also joined the ensemble cast
Netflix and Skydance Media have confirmed that César Award winner Mélanie Laurent (Beginners, Inglorious Bastards) and Payman Maadi (The Night Of, A Separation, 13 Hours) are joining the previously announced ensemble cast for the upcoming original feature film “6 Underground,” directed by Michael Bay (Transformers). The project will star Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool).
The feature-film is based on an original idea from writers and executive producers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, best known for their work on “Deadpool” and “Deadpool 2”. Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger will produce the project along with Bay and Ian Bryce.
If this is the first time you are hearing of the film, the previously announced cast members includes Corey Hawkins (BlacKkKlansman, 24: Legacy (TV), Straight Outta Compton), Adria Arjona (Triple Frontier, True Detective (TV), Pacific Rim Uprising), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Murder On The Orient Express, The Magnificent Seven), Ben Hardy (X-Men: Apocalypse, upcoming Bohemian Rhapsody) Lior Raz (Fauda, Operation Finale), and Dave Franco (6 Balloons, Neighbors, Now You See Me).
Production of the film is slated to begin later this month and “6 Underground” is scheduled to be released worldwide on Netflix in 2019. The video-streaming service hasn’t announced an exact premiere date yet but more information will be released as the film moves along into production.
This marks the first collaboration between Skydance and Netflix for an event level feature film and the first Netflix project for both Michael Bay and Ryan Reynolds. Skydance has worked with Netflix in the past, producing the critically acclaimed and Emmy Nominated series “Grace and Frankie” and the Emmy Nominated sci-fi series “Altered Carbon.”
Mélanie Laurent will star in the upcoming film “Operation Finale” from Chris Weitz, which also features Haley Lu Richardson, Oscar Isaac, Ben Kingsley, Nick Kroll, and Peter Strauss. The story follows a group of special agents, tasked with finding a Nazi officer that masterminded the Holocaust during World War II. That film is slated to release on August 29, 2018.
