The duo that helped bring “Hot Fuzz” and “Shaun of the Dead” to the big-screen are back together once again. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are starring in a gory-comedy called “Slaughterhouse Rulez” and it’s hitting the United Kingdom later this fall.
The film takes place at a very prestigious boarding school, where Simon Pegg takes the role of a teacher filling in for the previous one that died on the premises. Things go south when a nearby fracking site creates a sinkhole that puts the school and its students in terrible dangers. The film was directed by Crispian Mills, who also worked on Simon Pegg’s terrific film “A Fantastic Fear of Everything”.
Also starring in “Slaughterhouse Rulez” are Hermione Corfield and Michael Sheen. There’s definitely a play on Harry Potter throughout the film, which seems to feature a much younger cast than some of Pegg’s earlier work. Fans can watch the trailer below and U.K. readers can set a reminder to watch the film when it debuts on October 31, 2018.
Pegg’s action-comedies have become fan favorites over the years and Halloween is just around the corner, which is usually the best time to watch his library. Hits like “Hot Fuzz” and “Shaun of the Dead” are the easiest to find, though they come and go from sites like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. If you’ve already added “A Fantastic Fear of Everything” to your library you can also look for “The World’s End,” “Kill Me Three Times,” and “Run, Fatboy, Run”.
Pegg returned to the “Mission Impossible” franchise to play the role of Benji Dunn for this summer’s blockbuster “Mission Impossible 6”. That installment was directed by Christopher McQuarrie and also featured Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, and Angela Bassett.
