Adult Swim adds Two Animated Comedies
Two radically different series are coming to Adult Swim
Adult Swim is stuffing its schedule with two brand new animated-series. The shows are called “Tigtone and The Shivering Truth Deliver Insane Quests” and “Surreal Tales”. The network confirmed giving the two series the greenlight this week, one is scheduled to premiere later this year, the other in 2019.
The Shivering Truth will be a surreal anthology comedy. The network described the series stating, “It is a series of loosely-linked emotional parables about stories within tales that crawled out of the deepest caverns of your unconscious mind and became lovingly animated in breath-slapping stop motion — in other words, it is the TRUTH.” The series was created and written by Vernon Chatman, who also serves as director with Cat Solen. The animation studio is Shadow Machine and “The Shivering Truth” is currently in production and will premiere later this year.
Tigtone and The Shivering Truth Deliver Insane Quests will be new quarter-hour animated series created by Andrew Koehler and Benjamin Martin. The duo will also serve as executive producers with Blake Anderson (Workaholics). The series follows a quest-addicted hero (Tigtone) who slashes his way through a satirical fantasy universe with melodramatic ferocity and a complete disregard for the collateral damage he inflicts along the way. The series both celebrates and subverts tropes of the fantasy genre, role playing games, video games, and films. The series will combine rendered, hand-painted fantasy art; motion capture performances; 2D animation; and pseudo-3D visual effects. Fans will have to wait a little longer to see this series, “Tigtone and The Shivering Truth Deliver Insane Quests” is set to debut on Adult Swim in 2019.
The network hasn’t made any confirmations on the voice-cast for the two series but more information is expected to be released over the next few months. Until then, animation fans can still watch “Rick & Morty,” “The Venture Bros.,” and “Aqua Teen” to hold them over.
