Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone take center stage in the new promotional stills from “Creed II” this week. The highly anticipated sequel is set to hit theaters nationwide this November and will feature an extended cast. The new installment also has a new director, Steven Caple Jr. replaced Ryan Coogler for the follow-up, though Coogler stayed on as an Executive Producer for “Creed II”.

The film features Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Russell Hornsby, Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu, Andre Ward, Phylicia Rashad, and former “Rocky IV” star Dolph Lundgren. Sylvester Stallone wrote the script for this film but Ryan Coogler wrote the original.

The studio teases the film adding, “Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family.” The studio continues, “Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.”

The original “Creed” was an instant success for the studio when it hit theaters back in 2015. “Creed” made over $109M domestically before going on to gross over $173M worldwide. Sylvester Stallone, Kevin King-Templeton, Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, David Winkler, and Irwin Winkler produced the original. The studio released the first trailer for the film back in June, if you missed the trailer’s debut you can watch that video below.

A November release date means that “Creed II” will have to slug it out at the box-office. The sequel is opening against Taron Egerton’s “Robin Hood” and the Jennifer Lopez and Vanessa Hudgens’ romantic-comedy “Second Act”. “Creed II” is opening one-week after “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” and two-weeks after the films “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch” and “The Girl in the Spider’s Web“. The rush of November films could mean a split at the box-office, though “Creed” proved that the franchise can hold its own on the November schedule.

“Creed II” will hit theaters on November 21, 2018.
