Following up on last month’s teaser trailer, Netflix has released the first official trailer for the miniseries “Maniac” starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. The duo are once again sharing the screen, the actors were also in the 2007 comedy “Superbad” together, a film directed by Greg Mottola which also featured Michael Cera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Bill Hader, Seth Rogen, and Dave Franco. “Maniac” is a new Netflix miniseries event directed by Cary Fukunaga, who also worked on series like “The Alienist” and “True Detective”. Fukunaga also wrote the screenplay and directed the 2015 critically acclaimed hit “Beasts of No Nation,” which starred Abraham Attah, Emmanuel Affadzi, and Ricky Adelayitor.

The new Netflix miniseries is scheduled to release later next month, giving viewers more fall content to stream while we all adjust to the falling temperatures. September will be a good month for Netflix subscribers, the video-streaming service will also premiere Season 2 of “Marvel’s Iron Fist” on September 7th; then the feature film “Nappily Ever After” and the documentary “Quincy” on September 21st.

The series follows the story of two strangers who find themselves caught up in a mind-bending pharmaceutical trial gone awry. Netflix first announced the new series back in April but now you can watch the official trailer below.

“Maniac” is currently scheduled to be a Netflix Limited Series, and the episodes are set to premiere on September 21st if you want to set a reminder. Fans of Emma Stone can expect to see the actor in Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Cruella,” where she will play the titular role, that film currently has Alex Timbers attached to direct. Jonah Hill is slated to star in the drama “The Ballad of Richard Jewell” with director Ezra Edelman, that project is currently in pre-production.
