HBO Teases ‘The Deuce’ Season 2
A jump back into the dirty Time Square
HBO has started teasing the second season of “The Deuce”. The popular series is scheduled to return this September but fans of the show can get an early preview of the season thanks to the recently release video below.
The show itself was created by George Pelecanos and David Simon (The Wire) and features James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The series follows the story of the legalization and subsequent rise of the porn industry in New York’s Times Square from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s. If you lived here in New York at that time, or just after the collapse, you probably remember that Time Square wasn’t exactly a great place to be, though you would never know now with Disney and MTV taking up such great real-estate. Fans of the show can watch the promotional teaser below, which doesn’t offer a lot of details on the story lines but the video is filled with terrific outfits and mustaches.
HBO describes the story saying that the show exploures “the rough-and-tumble world at the pioneering moments of what would become the billion-dollar American sex industry”. The series itself was executive produced by George Pelecanos, David Simon, James Franco and Nina K. Noble.
James Franco is set to appear in the upcoming thriller “Kin” later this month, the film was directed by Jonathan and Josh Baker and also features Zoë Kravitz, and Dennis Quaid. Franco also recently wrapped the film “The Pretenders,” a film he directed and stars in with Juno Temple, Mustafa Shakir, Dennis Quaid, and Brian Cox.
If you want to set a reminder to catch the first episode, “The Deuce” is scheduled to premiere on September 9th on HBO.
