Johnson and Blunt prepare for the River ride

Disney Jungle Cruisedisney

Disney released a promotional video for tots indicating that Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson have started filming the upcoming adventurer “Disney’s Jungle Cruise”. The cast and crew are hard at work on the new project, which is scheduled to release in theaters in October 2019. The film is being directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the same director that brought you the 2016 shark thriller “The Shallows” with Blake Lively, and will also feature Paul Giamatti, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Michael H. Cole. The video isn’t a trailer for the film, since filming just began, but hopes to get tiny fans excited for the upcoming adventure.

The film will be based on Disney’s theme park ride, following a group of passengers as they make their way down river through a terrifying jungle filled with animals and possible supernatural elements. Of course this isn’t the only Disney project that Emily Blunt has on the schedule, “Mary Poppins Returns” is expected to hit theaters nationwide this December. That film was directed by Rob Marshall and stars Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Dick Van Dyke.

Both stars are Disney vets, having appeared in movies for the popular mouse in the past. “Jungle Cruise” will bring Dwayne Johnson back to the family-friendly adventure genre, where he often rules the box-office. Johnson saw success with “Rampage” and “The Fate of the Furious” but the box-office is most kind to Johnson when he stars in films like “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and Disney’s own “Moana”. Fans of Disney, or the popular Jungle Cruise ride, can watch the promotional video below.

Disney stopped short of setting an exact release date for the film at this time, but fans can expect “Disney’s Jungle Cruise” to hit theaters in October 2019.
