After teasing the trailer for the past few days on social-media, Sony Pictures has finally released another look at the upcoming “Venom” movie. This isn’t the first trailer that Sony Pictures has released for the film but fans should be happy to see more of Eddie Brock and his powerful symbiote.
“Venom” was directed by Ruben Fleischer, working from a screenplay written by Kelly Marcel and Will Beall. The film will feature Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson, and Jenny Slate.
While “Venom” is certainly a highly-anticipated release, the film will have quite a few challengers to conquer in October. “Venom” is opening against Bradley Cooper’s “A Star is Born,’ a film that he directed, which also features Lady Gaga and Sam Elliott. The following week “Venom” will have to battle the thriller “Bad Times At The El Royale,” with Dakota Johnson, Chris Hemsworth, Jon Hamm, Jeff Bridges, and Nick Offerman, as well as Sony’s own “Goosebumps 2”. Ryan Gosling’s drama “First Man” is also scheduled to hit theaters that same weekend. The rush of new films might divide the box-office during Venom’s run through October, so Sony Pictures is probably hoping for a gigantic opening at the beginning of the month.
For the younger crowd, Sony is also releasing “Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse“. The animated adventure is set to release in theaters this December and features Nicolas Cage, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Lily Tomlin, and John Mulaney. That project was directed by Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey.
On the back-burner, Sony Pictures still has “Spider-Man: Far From Home” coming out in 2019. Jon Watts will direct that installment with Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Marisa Tomei expected to reprise their characters from “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. Jake Gyllenhaal is rumored to be playing the part of Quentin Beck / Mysterio in the film but we will just have to wait until Sony starts teasing the follow-up to get the extended cast. Fans of the Venom can watch the new trailer below.
Sony Pictures will release “Venom” in theaters on October 5th.
