Sony Pictures released another trailer for “Slender Man” this morning, sharing a few more scenes from the big horror-thriller that is scheduled to release later this summer. In any other year, “Slender Man” would have probably released around Halloween but this year is a little crowded, so “Slender Man” is hitting theaters on August 10th. The film will have to battle Jason Statham’s “MEG” shark-thriller, which will be an interesting battle at the box-office. Those aren’t the only thrillers hitting the box-office in August, the month has become a popular release date for the genre since Blumhouse Productions proved that summer audiences are willing to fill theaters to watch hits like “Insidious” and “The Purge”.
“Slender Mna” was directed by Sylvain White and written by David Birke. The story is based on a character created by Victor Surge. Bringing Slender Man to the screen are Joey King, Julia Goldani-Telles, Jaz Sinclair, Annalise Basso, and Javier Botet.
As for the story itself, the film picks up in a small town in Massachusetts. A group of friends perform a ritual in an attempt to debunk the lore of Slender Man. When one of them goes mysteriously missing, they begin to suspect that she is, in fact, his latest victim. From there things continue to go wrong and the friends have to survive. Fans of the supernatural can watch the second trailer for the film below.
As we mentioned earlier, August will be a big month for horror films and thrillers. FOX is kicking off the month with Mandy Moore’s “The Darkest Minds;” Warner Bros. Pictures will try and terrify the beach crowds with Jason Statham’s shark-thriller “MEG;” and Kodi Smit-McPhee’s “ALPHA” will hit theaters later in the month.
