‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ is Coming Back with new Episodes
Disney saves The Clone Wars for fans
One of the big announcements at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend came from Lucasfilm, the studio is bringing back “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and the teaser trailer had fans cheering on social-media across the globe. The video was shown during the show’s panel, which was celebrating the 10th anniversary of the popular show, and was moderated by Amy Ratcliffe. The panel itself had Dave Filoni, Athena Portillo, Ashley Eckstein, Matt Lanter, and Kevin Kiner.
The panel was mostly reminiscing, remembering how terrific the show was and how fans of the series were always supportive and engaging. At the end of the Panel the trailer screened, and if applause and clapping could bring down SDCC then it would have came crashing down in an instant. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch the video below, it was probably one of the best surprises shown at San Diego Comic-Con this year.
Obviously the trailer opens a ton of questions for fans. Ahsoka shows up at the end next to a person wearing Mandalorian armor, which raises dozens of questions on its own, not to mention the status of our favorite Clones, Obi Wan, where we are in the timeline exactly, and how far Anakin Skywalker has fallen towards the Dark Side. The video also stops short of giving us a premiere window, but since Disney is launching its own streaming service in the future, we think that this new Star Wars installment won’t be ready until at least the launch of that platform. Disney already confirmed that Favreau’s new live-action series will help launch the program, so the service is already appealing to the millions of Star Wars fans across the galaxy.
As for now fans of the Clone Wars have to be patient and hope that we get another teaser trailer sometime this fall. We do have “Episode IX” to look forward to in 2019, so maybe Disney will start teasing the new Clone Wars episodes as we get closer to the big launch date.
