Netflix is teasing the new season of “Stranger Things” and the latest video is pure 80s delight. The teaser is an advertisement for Hawkins’ newest social hot-spot, the “Starcourt Mall,” which we are assuming is a focal point in Season 3’s new episodes. The trailer offers just a tease of the cast but does give us a location that isn’t the woods or the school.
In describing the teaser Netflix added, “Coming to Hawkins in the Summer of 1985…the Starcourt Mall! Starcourt Mall will be one of the finest shopping facilities in America and beyond with options for the entire family. Including The Gap, Waldenbooks, Sam Goody, Claire’s and more! Don’t forget to cool off at Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream shop. Starcourt Mall has it all!”
Fans of the series can watch the latest teaser below, showcasing fan favorite character Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) working at the Scoops Ahoy ice cream shop. There are plenty of teasers to showcase the time-frame of the episodes for fans, including the recent launch of Tom Clancy’s “The Hunt for Red October” in the window of Waldenbooks. That puts the date at 1984, which means fans can look for references to films like “Gremlins,” “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” “Footloose,” “Splash,” “The Karate Kid,” “Romancing the Stone,” and “Police Academy” in the new season. Hits like “The Muppet Babies,” “Miami Vice,” “Punky Brewster,” and “Voltron” also started that year, so our hopes of a Miami Vice styled Steve Harrington are at an all time high at the moment.
Netflix hasn’t given us a firm premiere date for the new season yet but we do hope to get more information around San Diego Comic-Con later this month. San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 19th through July 22nd and we could get a few teasers or posters during the weekend.
