Amazon Prime Day launches today and the deals will be going on for the next 36 hours, all starting at 3pm EST. For parents and college students, Prime Day can be one of the best days for any-and-all Back to School shopping that you have been putting off. The purchases aren’t always gigantic, last year Amazon stated that customers purchased more pencils, pens, notebooks, glue sticks, lunchboxes and backpacks on last year’s Prime Day than any other day of the year, including all of the major holidays.

If you aren’t a Prime Member, Amazon lets students enrolled in two or four year colleges sign up for a six-month trial of Prime Student at no cost. This year you can find school supplies, including laptops, shoes, backpacks, clothing, bedding, furniture, dorm room décor and more, all at bargain prices. Amazon stated that Prime Day will have more than one million deals worldwide this year, and if you’re not a student you can still start a 30-day free trial at to participate in Prime Day.
