Netflix has confirmed the cast of “In the Shadow of the Moon,” a new film set to release on the video-streaming platform in 2019. The project began filming in early July and will feature Boyd Holbrook (Logan, Narcos), Emmy nominee and Golden Globe/SAG winner Michael C. Hall (Safe, Cold In July), Cleopatra Coleman (The Last Man on Earth, White Famous), and Emmy Award nominee Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo (TV), Spider-Man: Homecoming).

In the announcement Netflix described the film stating, “Philly police officer struggles with a lifelong obsession to track a mysterious serial killer whose crimes defy explanation.” Jim Mickle is directing the film, working off a script written by Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Rian Cahill for Automatik, Ben Pugh for 42, Linda Moran and Jim Mickle for Nightshade are producing, with Fred Berger and Rory Aitken serving as Executive producers.

Netflix also confirmed the cast for Dee Rees’ “The Last Thing He Wanted,” a film that is shooting in Puerto Rico. The story is based on the 1996 novel by Joan Didion and centers on hardscrabble journalist Elena McMahon who finds herself on dangerous ground as the Iran Contra Affair’s arms for drugs plot reaches its tipping point. Academy Award nominee Dee Rees (Mudbound) is directing the film, which will feature Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables, Ocean’s 8), Emmy Award nominee Toby Jones (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Infamous, Journey’s End), Academy Award nominee Rosie Perez (Bounty Hunters, Fearless, White Men Can’t Jump), Double Academy Award winner Ben Affleck (Argo, Good Will Hunting, Gone Girl), Drama Desk and Obie Award winner Edi Gathegi (Jesus Hopped The A Train), with Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe (The Florida Project) and Mel Rodriguez (The Last Man on Earth, Overboard, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams) Marco Villalobos and Dee Rees wrote the screenplay for the film, and it is currently scheduled to release in 2019.
