Bella Thorne’s ‘Famous in Love’ Cancelled at Freeform
Bella Thorne is movin' on
The writing was on the wall for “Famous in Love” when Freeform didn’t confirm that the series would be coming back at the network’s UpFront presentation earlier this Spring. When Freeform did the same to “Shadowhunters,” then canned the series, things looked even more dismal for Bella Thorne’s YA drama. Now we know that “Famous in Love” won’t be coming back for a third-season, which is a tough break for fans of the series. The show itself started out very strong, topping Freeform’s digital charts during its premiere, and earned a quick Season 2 renewal. The show has also been a steady trend on social-media but that wasn’t enough for Freeform to renew the series. In a prepared statement, the network talked about closing out the show:
“We are proud to have had the opportunity to air Famous In Love. After many discussions we have made the difficult decision not to renew the show for a third season. We want to thank our colleagues at Warner Horizon and our incredible producers, writers, cast and crew, especially Marlene King, for their creativity, hard work and dedication.”
The show was based on the novel by Rebecca Serle, “Famous in Love” follows ordinary college student Paige (Bella Thorne) as she gets her big break after auditioning for the starring role in a Hollywood blockbuster. Throughout the two seasons Paige navigated her new star-studded life and experienced all the highs and lows that came with being the new It Girl in town. The show often focused on Paige balancing her college workload and the off-set drama of being a new star.
Fans will still get plenty of Bella Thorne though, more so if you follow her on Instagram. Thorne is expected to star in “I Still See You” later this year, a film directed by Scott Speer and also featuring Dermot Mulroney and Louis Herthum.
