Travel to Dreamland in Netflix’s First ‘Disenchantment’ Trailer
From the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama
As we reported earlier this year, Matt Groening of “The Simpsons” and “Futurama” is making a new animated-series for Netflix called “Disenchantment,” and today we have the first teaser trailer. Netflix released a short teaser for “Disenchantment” on YouTube this morning, just as fans are getting ready for San Diego Comic-Con in July. “Disenchantment” will be a brand-new fantasy series that is exclusive to Netflix, and the launch is just a few weeks away. The video-streaming service has ordered 20 episodes from Matt Groening for the first season, which is hitting screens everywhere later this summer.
If you want to set a reminder for the release date, Netflix will release the first 10 episodes on August 17th. As for the series itself, the story takes place in the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland. Viewers will follow the misadventures of the hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools. In the announcement earlier this year Matt Groening stated, “Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”
The series will feature the voice talents of Abbi Jacobson (“Bean”), Nat Faxon (“Elfo”) and Eric Andre (“Luci”), along with John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery. Animation is being done by Rough Draft Studios (Futurama). Fans can watch the first teaser below.
Disenchantment will premiere on Netflix ten episodes at a time and is produced by The ULULU Company for Netflix, with Matt Groening and Josh Weinstein (The Simpsons, Futurama) serving as executive producers. That is assuming that it is picked up for another season.
