NBC Cancels ‘Timeless’ After Season 2

Sorry ''Timeless' fans

Sad news for fans of “Timeless” on NBC, the network will not be bringing back the action-adventure series for another season. After Netflix saved “Lucifer” and NBC saved “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” earlier this year, there was a small chance that NBC would renew the series for a third-season if fans got behind the show on social-media, but it seems that won’t be happening.

According to reports, Sony Pictures Television and NBC couldn’t agree on a way to make a third-season economically viable for a renewal. The only glimmer of hope for fans of the show (who were left with a big cliff-hanger ending in Season 2) is that Sony Pictures could make a movie to wrap-up the story.

The show came from Eric Kripke (“Revolution,” “Supernatural”) and Shawn Ryan (“The Shield”). The series was cancelled after Season 1 but brought back after fans rallied to save the show. Season 2 picked-up right where the show left off, with heroes Rufus (Malcolm Barrett), Wyatt (Matt Lanter), and Lucy (Abigail Spencer) racing through history in an attempt to prevent the destruction of our world as we all know it.

In Season 2 the group found an unlikely ally in their quest to ruin Rittenhouse, a deadly organization with plans to change history and reshape reality — even though Lucy’s family has been a part of Rittenhouse for centuries. Still making every effort not to affect the past themselves, the crew visited 1692, 1917, 1941, and 1981. Season 2 included famous names like Marie Curie, Hedy Lamarr, William Randolph Hearst and a multitude of other influential people throughout history.

The cast included Abigail Spencer (“Rectify,” “True Detective,” and “Suits”), Matt Lanter (“90210,” “Star-Crossed,” and “Commander in Chief”), Malcolm Barrett (“The Hurt Locker,” “Dear White People,” and “Better Off Ted”), Goran Višnjić (“ER,” “Extant” and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”), Paterson Joseph (“The Beach,” “In the Name of the Father,” and “Aeon Flux”), Sakina Jaffrey (“House of Cards,” “Mr. Robot,” and “The Mindy Project”) and Claudia Doumit (“Faking It,” “Scandal,” and “New Girl”).

Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke are the creators, writers and executive producers. Tom Smuts (“Bosch,” “Mad Men”) and Arika Lisanne Mittman (“Elementary,” “Tyrant,” “Dexter”) are co-showrunners and executive producers. Don Kurt (“Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams,” “Good Girls Revolt,” “Justified”), Greg Beeman (“American Gothic,” “Minority Report,” “Falling Skies”), John Davis (“The Blacklist”), John Fox (“The Blacklist”) and Marney Hochman (“The Chicago Code”) also executive produce. “Timeless” is a production of Sony Pictures Television, Davis Entertainment, MiddKid Productions and Kripke Enterprises.
