Fortnite Battle Royal Launches on the Nintendo Switch
Nintendo Swith joins the Llama Party
Fortnite’s Battle Royal is launching on the Nintendo Switch today, adding a few million players to a game that’s already one of the most popular on the planet. Epic Games made the announcement during Nintendo’s E3 event and released a new launch trailer to get Switch fans excited for their first drop.
Starting today, players can download the game for free on the Nintendo eShop and squad up with their friends in the same room or around the world. Fortnite Battle Royale for Nintendo Switch is the same game players know from PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and mobile. This isn’t a stripped-down version of the Battle Royal experience, Nintendo Switch users will get the same gameplay, same map, same content, and same weekly updates. So get those Loot Llamas ready, it’s time for Switch fans to join the Battle Bus.
As we mentioned earlier, Epic Games released a trailer for the launch and you can watch that video below.
One of the biggest benefits that the Nintendo Switch has over other consoles is that you can take the game on the go. There is a mobile-version of Fortnite Battle Royal available for iOS and Android, but playing on a Switch handheld is certainly going to give you better visuals and more intuitive controls. No word yet if other consoles and platforms will add cross-platform support, but here’s hoping that Sony finally comes around and decides that it would be best for everyone.
The PC, Mac, Xbox, and PS4 versions of “Fortnite: Battle Royal” are also free, but there is a co-op version of the game called “Save the World” that is available to purchase on those platforms. It’s one of the best PvE experiences out there, and hopefully that will be coming to the Nintendo Switch in the near future.
