Netflix will be bringing back “13 Reasons Why” for a third season, the streaming service made the announcement with a short teaser trailer released earlier today.
The popular YA drama has already released a second season on Netflix, which picks up in the aftermath of Hannah’s death and the start of our characters’ complicated journeys toward healing and recovery. Netflix teased Season 2 adding, “Liberty High prepares to go on trial, but someone will stop at nothing to keep the truth surrounding Hannah’s death concealed. A series of ominous polaroids lead Clay and his classmates to uncover a sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up.”
The video doesn’t offer too many clues about the content of the third season, but fans of the drama should at least be happy to know that Netflix is sticking with the series for another year. You can watch the teaser-trailer for Season 3 below.
Due to the sensitive nature of the show’s topic, Netflix has also launched 13ReasonsWhy.info, which includes an updated Discussion Guide and a new Discussion Series. That series offers a set of videos where cast address issues in the series including bullying, sexual assault and drug abuse.
According to Netflix, Brian Yorkey will return as showrunner in Season 3, which should be good news for fans. The show will begin filming later this year but will have to do so without Katherine Langford, who played Hannah on the series. The renewal itself comes just a few short weeks after Netflix launched season 2.
We still don’t have a premiere window for the third season, but more information will be teased as the show goes back into production. At that time we will also get any new casting information, and probably a few teaser trailer from Netflix.
