Sony Pictures released a new teaser for the animated-adventure “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” this week, giving Spider-Man fans a quick look at characters that will be featured in the new film.

The studio released the new trailer while confirming the extended cast of the new project. The new Spider-Man installment is currently scheduled to release on December 14th and will feature a new art-style and a new Spider-Man.

Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, the animated-comedy will feature the voice-talents of Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, and Lily Tomlin.

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one hero can wear the mask and protect the citizens of New York City. Fans of the iconic hero can watch the official trailer below.

Sony will debut “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” against Universal Pictures’ sci-fi epic “Mortal Engines,” a film that also released a trailer this week. Those two films will have to defend their box-office winnings against “Alita: Battle Angel,” “Aquaman,” “Bumblebee,” and “Holmes & Watson” the following weekend.

It will be interesting to see how the animated-adventures of Spider-Man stack up against the live-action version of the hero at the box-office. Sony’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” debuted in 2017 with a $117M weekend before going on to make over $334M domestically. The film, which was Sony’s first Spider-Man installment since lending the iconic hero to Marvel for “Captain America: Civil War,” made over $880M worldwide.

If you do prefer the live-action version of Spider-Man, Sony is still planning on making two more films following the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” storyline; but we will have to wait a few more weeks before the casting of those films are finalized. You still have the “Venom” movie to look forward to in the meantime.
