A new “How to Train Your Dragon” movie is releasing next Spring, and DreamWorks Animation now has an official trailer for fans to get excited about. The film will be the culmination of one of the highest-grossing animated franchises in the business, and it’s bringing back a lot of the same cast.
The film will be the third installment to the planned trilogy, and everyone’s a little older. The new chapter will once again feature Hiccup and Toothless as the duo finally discover their true destinies. Our trusty human will be the ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, and the dragon is set to be the leader of his own kind. DreamWorks teases the film adding, “As both ascend, the darkest threat they’ve yet faced—as well as the appearance of a female Night Fury—will test the bonds of their relationship like never before.”
Series Director Dean DeBlois is returning to the franchise, alongside the all-star cast. The film itself will be called “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World”. The project is produced by Brad Lewis (Ratatouille, ANTZ) and How to Train Your Dragon series producer Bonnie Arnold (Toy Story, Tarzan).
Fans of the franchise can watch the new trailer below. The film is scheduled to release on March 1, 2019.
The first “How to Train Your Dragon” opened back in 2010 with a $43M domestic debut. The animated-comedy went on to make over $217M domestically, and over $494M worldwide.
