Teen Choice 2018 Hits FOX in August
FOX is giving the Teen Choice awards a 2hr debut
The “Teen Choice” award show is no longer a teenager. The popular awards show will be turning 20 this year and FOX has set a date for the summer event. This year, FOX will air the Teen Choice Awards on August 12th, giving Sunday viewers something to watch during a weekend that is usually filled with bland summer programming.
Just like other years, Teen Choice 2018 will let fans pick their favorites and reward today’s best pop-icons. Teens can also cast their votes for new categories, as well as returning categories, to keep things interesting and a little bit more fun than other award shows. The category nomination window is now officially open, and fans can submit category nominations via Twitter using the category hashtag, plus their handle/name through Sunday, May 20 at 9:00 PM PT.
The show itself is scheduled for a two-hour time-slot, and it will air LIVE on FOX. The show honors this year’s iconic stars from the best films, most-loved TV shows, popular music and the top moments in fashion, digital and comedy. Winners are given the coveted Surfboard Awards, and it’s usually pretty great to watch excited young winners hit the stage and get recognition from their peers. FOX hasn’t confirmed this year host or hosts, and we will know the performers, presenters and nominees when the network announces them over the next few weeks.
For two decades, the special has presented performances and appearances by some of pop culture’s brightest stars. TEEN CHOICE 2017 was a star-studded event, during which Bruno Mars accepted the “Visionary Award,” Adam Levine won the “Decade Award,” Vanessa Hudgens received the #SEEHER Award and Miley Cyrus got the “Ultimate Choice” Award. Multi-Platinum award-winning artists Fifth Harmony, as well as actor and comedian Anthony Anderson were special presenters. Louis Tomlinson and Bebe Rexha; Clean Bandit with Zara Larson; KYLE, lil Yachty and Rita Ora; Rae Sremmurd; and French Montana, featuring Swae Lee, also performed.
Fans can start dreaming up the next big category on Twitter, and set a reminder to watch on August 12, 2018.
