Lionsgate released a new trailer for “The Spy Who Dumped Me,” a new comedy set to hit theaters later this summer. The film stars Mila Kunis, Kate McKinnon, Justin Theroux, Gillian Anderson, Hasan Minhaj, Ivanna Sakhno, and Sam Heughan, and was directed by Susanna Fogel. Comedy fans can watch the new trailer below, but it’s going to be a busy weekend during the film’s big debut in theaters.
In the film Audrey (Mila Kunis) and Morgan (Kate McKinnon), two thirty-year-old best friends in Los Angeles, are thrust unexpectedly into an international conspiracy when Audrey’s ex-boyfriend shows up at their apartment with a team of deadly assassins on his trail. Surprising even themselves, the duo jump into action, on the run throughout Europe from assassins and a suspicious-but-charming British agent, as they hatch a plan to save the world.
You can watch the first official trailer for the film below, “The Spy Who Dumped Me” is set to hit theaters on August 3, 2018.
The film is going against some heavy-hitters in August. FOX is releasing Mandy Moore’s drama “The Darkest Minds” that same weekend, and Disney is releasing the live-action/CG hybrid “Christopher Robin”. That’s not all, STX is planning to release the Mark Wahlberg, Ronda Rousey, and John Malkovich actioner “Mile 22,” and Sony Pictures will be releasing the John Cho, Debra Messing thriller “Searching”. Still, Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon have prevailed over crowded box-offices in the past, Kunis’ “A Bad Mom’s Christmas” opened to second-place against “Thor: Ragnarok” and still made $16M on opening weekend – and McKinnon’s “Ghostbusters” made $46M while “The Secret Life of Pets” was still dominating the domestic charts.
Fans of McKinnon might get to see her in an adaptation of “The Lunch Witch,” which is currently in very early production stages, and Kunis is set to voice a character in the animated story of “Wonder Park” with Jennifer Garner and Matthew Broderick.
