Praises were heard all across the Multiverse this afternoon when Adult Swim announced that it had secured a new deal with the creators of “Rick and Morty”. The show creators, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, confirmed the order today while taking a shower this morning on Instagram. This is not strange if you follow either of two, though we have been impressed with Dan Harmon’s dedication to physical well-being lately.
The two writers are getting back together to create more episodes of the popular animated series “Rick and Morty,” and they have a lot of episodes to make. Adult Swim has made a long-term overall deal with the creators that will include 70 new episodes of the critically acclaimed series. The show follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe. Sometimes the duo bring along Morty’s sister Summer, and sometimes his father Jerry gets to tag along for the ride.
“Rick and Morty” isn’t just a hit on Adult Swim, the show was the top comedy across all of television in 2017 with millennials ,and the series has become a multi-platform sensation across digital, gaming, livestreaming, retail, and fan experiences. If you haven’t searched for the RICKMOBILE in your spare-time, you have not lived.
Speaking of which, fans can look forward to the return of the highly successful country-wide tour of the Rickmobile, which hits the road on May 17th starting in Atlanta, Georgia. The one-of-a-kind mobile pop-up shop will be offering new exclusive, custom-designed show collectibles at more than 50 stops, including San Diego Comic Con in July.
Earlier this week Adult Swim announced that it has picked up the series “Three Busy Debras,” which was created, written, executive produced, and starring Sandy Honig (Isn’t It Romantic). Mitra Jouhari (Miracle Workers) and Alyssa Stonoha also serve as executive producers along with director, Anna Dokoza (Baskets). Amy Poehler and Kim Lessing complete the list of executive producers through Paper Kite Productions.
No word yet on a “Rick and Morty” premiere date for the new episodes, but when dealing with the show just remember it could drop tomorrow, or at 12:24am on Christmas Day – there are no rules.
