Get an up close look at the new Predator
20th Century FOX has released the first teaser trailer for “The Predator” reboot, the next film in the franchise is set to hit theaters later this fall. The new installment was directed by Shane Black, working from a script that he co-wrote with Fred Dekker. The original “Predator” hit theaters back in 1987, opening at number-one at the box-office before making over $98M worldwide. The film, which was directed by John McTiernan and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, created a new thriller franchise that would go on to make four other films.
The studio teased the film adding, “From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species.” The studio added, “When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.”
The film has pretty big cast behind it, including Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, and Yvonne Strahovski. Fans of the franchise can watch the first-look trailer below, “The Predator” is scheduled to hit theaters on September 14, 2018.
September will be a very busy month at the box-office. Warner Bros. Pictures is starting the month with the horror-thriller “The Nun,” and Lionsgate will be releasing the thriller “A Simple Favor” with Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively. A few other big releases that month include “The House With A Clock In Its Walls,” NEON’s “Assassination Nation,” Universal Pictures’ comedy “Night School,” and the animated-comedy “Smallfoot”. While “The Predator” could easily win the weekend, it may be hard for the film to repeat the same victory, but thrillers have proven to be resistant in the past.
