Lionsgate released the first teaser-trailer for “Robin Hood,” the film is set to hit theaters later this fall. The new adaptation of the popular legend will star Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn, Eve Hewson, Tim Minchin, and Jamie Dornan, and will once again be an origin tale of the famous rogue. Fans of Egerton can watch a quick-preview of the film below, thanks to an early morning upload from the studio.
The official release date for “Robin Hood” is November 21st, but the film will have a lot of competition at the box-office that month. Set to premiere in November are the films “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch,” “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” “Creed 2,” and “Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2.” Any one of those film could split the box-office during Robin’s big debut, but Egerton has pulled-in audiences in the past during a crowded box-office.
The film was directed by Otto Bathurst, working from a screenplay written by Ben Chandler and David James Kelly. In the film Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) is a war-hardened Crusader joined with his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx). The duo mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown, and will feature a ton of gritty battlefield exploits, fight choreography, and a timeless romance for added appeal.
Egerton is best known for his role as Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin in the “Kingsman” franchise. Those films have done very well in theaters, the first installment made over $128M domestically and over $414M worldwide. Egerton returned for the sequel last year, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” which brought in over $100M domestically and over $410M worldwide.
