Netflix has set a date for “13 Reasons Why: Season 2,” the popular series is set to return to Netflix on May 18, 2018. That’s still plenty of time to catch up on the first season if you have to, and don’t forget to add some social-media filters around the premiere date to avoid any unwanted spoilers. Netflix made the announcement with a first-look trailer released earlier today on YouTube, fans of the series can watch that video below. The trailer was given the cryptic description “The truth is developing,” playing on the polaroids that will be a big part of the story in the follow-up season.
As for Season 2, the series is set to pick up in the aftermath of Hannah’s death and the start of our characters’ complicated journeys toward healing and recovery. Netflix teased the new season by stating, “Liberty High prepares to go on trial, but someone will stop at nothing to keep the truth surrounding Hannah’s death concealed. A series of ominous polaroids lead Clay and his classmates to uncover a sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up.”
The show’s focus on teen suicides caused a bit of stir when Season 1 released last year. In preparation for the launch of Season 2, new resources will be added to 13ReasonsWhy.info, including an updated Discussion Guide and a new Discussion Series. The new discussion series will include a set of videos where the cast will address issues in the series including bullying, sexual assault and drug abuse. Netflix encourages all viewers to explore these tools, should they need help or support.
Fans of Season 1 can watch the trailer below, and set a reminder to watch the brand-new season when it launches on Netflix in May.
