Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” is the current king of the box-office, but Disney has “Solo: A Star Wars Story” set to take over the charts in late May. This weekend LucasFilm released a new featurette trailer for the next Star Wars installment, showing off a reckless Han Solo slowly becoming the famous scoundrel that we all know and love.
“Solo: A Star Wars Story” will be the second stand-alone film in the franchise, if it wants to take the top-prize in its category it will have to beat “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” $155M opening weekend, or make over $1.05B worldwide. For “Solo: A Star Wars Story” to take the number-one spot in the entire franchise, it will have to do better than “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” $220M domestic debut, or make over $1.3B at the worldwide box-office. The cast and crew are hoping for a big turnout in theaters this Spring, the young Han Solo project is set to release in theaters on May 25, 2018.
The new installment was directed by Ron Howard, and features Emilia Clarke, Alden Ehrenreich, Thandie Newton, Woodey Harrelson, and Donald Glover. Star Wars fans can watch the latest trailer below, which was released over the weekend as0 “Avengers: Infinity War” hit theaters.
The trailer wasn’t the only exciting Star Wars news to be released this week, Disney Channel confirmed a new animated adventure-series called “Star Wars: Resistance“. The show will follow Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order. It will premiere this fall on Disney Channel in the U.S. and, thereafter, on Disney XD and around the world.
