The crime-thriller “Ocean’s 8” released a new trailer this week, showing off the almost endless list of celebrities that have agreed to star in the new installment. The film is set to release this summer, but you can watch the latest trailer released from Warner Bros. Pictures below.
The new “Oceans” film was directed by Gary Ross, and the new crew of A-list talent includes Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Mindy Kaling. They will be joined by Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter.
Warner Bros. Pictures teases the film saying, “Five years, eight months, 12 days…and counting. That’s how long Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) has been devising the biggest heist of her life. She knows what it’s going to take—a team of the best in their field, starting with her partner-in-crime Lou Miller (Cate Blanchett). Together, they recruit a crew of specialists: jeweler Amita (Kaling); street con Constance (Awkwafina); expert fence Tammy (Paulson); hacker Nine Ball (Rihanna); and fashion designer Rose (Bonham Carter).” The studio added, “The target is a cool $150 million dollars in diamonds—diamonds that will be around the neck of world-famous actress Daphne Kluger (Hathaway), who will be centerstage at the event of the year, the Met Gala. The plan is rock solid, but everything will need to be flawless if the team is going to get in and get away with the ice. All in plain sight.”
“Ocean’s 8” also stars James Corden as an insurance investigator trying to put the pieces together, and Richard Armitage as Kluger’s unwitting date at the Gala.
Ross is directing from a screenplay he wrote with Olivia Milch (“Dude”) with Steven Soderbergh and Jon Kilik producing. The executive producers on the project are Michael Tadross, Susan Ekins, Sandra Bullock, Diana Alvarez and Bruce Berman, with Milch co-producing.
Collaborating with Ross behind the scenes are director of photography Eigil Bryld (“In Bruges,” “Not Fade Away”), production designer Alex DiGerlando (“Beasts of the Southern Wild,” HBO’s “True Detective”), editor Juliette Welfling (“Free State of Jones,” “The Hunger Games”), costume designer Sarah Edwards (“Tower Heist,” Showtime’s “Billions”), and composer Nicholas Britell (“The Big Short,” “Free State of Jones”).
Opening beginning June 8, 2018, the film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.
