A24 has a new romantic-thriller on the horizon, starring Timothée Chalamet, Maika Monroe and Alex Roe. The film is scheduled to debut on DirecTV on June 28th, then release in theaters on July 27, 2018. The film is sure to pick up some extra attention following Chalamet’s critically acclaimed work in the film “Call Me By Your Name,” that project was directed by Luca Guadagnino, and also featured Armie Hammer and Michael Stuhlbarg. In “Hot Summer Nights,” Timothée Chalamet stars as a quiet teenager transformed after his small-town drug-selling gig starts getting popular, the romantic thriller comes from filmmaker Elijah Bynum. The story is set in Cape Cod, and the events take place over one summer.

“Hot Summer Nights” follows Daniel (Timothée Chalamet), a shy out-of-towner who gets in over his head flipping weed with the neighborhood rebel (Alex Roe) while pursuing his new business partner’s enigmatic sister (Maika Monroe). With a hurricane looming in the wings, tensions rise against a backdrop of drive-ins, arcades, and crashed parties as the stakes (and temperatures) grow ever higher.

Fans probably know Maika Monroe from her work on “Independence Day: Resurgence,” “It Follows,” and “The 5th Wave,” which also featured Alex Roe. Fans can see Roe in Freeform’s new sci-fi series “Siren,” he also starred in “Forever My Girl,” and “Rings”

The film was written and directed by Elijah Bynum, and will hit the box-office during a crowded weekend. The big-releases scheduled to hit theaters that weekend are the actioner “Sicario: Day of the Soldado,” the comedy “Uncle Drew,” and the musical “Valley Girl”. You can watch the trailer for the film below, thanks to an early morning upload from A24 to the company’s YouTube page, and set a reminder to watch the film in theaters on June 28, 2018.
