Thriller fans will be able to stream “The Strangers: Prey at Night” this May, Universal Pictures has set a home box-office release date for the film, and you won’t even have to wait that long. The movie was inspired by the 2008 cult classic “The Strangers,” and is based on real events surrounding a family struggling to survive as they are attacked on their vacation by a trio of masked psychopaths that hunt their prey with seemingly no rhyme or reason.

You can pre-order the digital version of the film on iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon Video. The Blu-ray and DVD versions will be available to pre-order through online retailers like Amazon.com.

Director Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down) pays homage to The Strangers by bringing back the infamous masked villains, thriller fans will once again meet Dollface, Pin-Up Girl and Man in the Mask. The film will first release on Digital, starting on May 22, 2018, the film will then release on Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand on June 12, 2018 through Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

In the film, a family’s road trip takes a dangerous turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park to stay with relatives and find it mysteriously deserted. Under the cover of darkness, three masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test the family’s every limit as they struggle to survive. Johannes Roberts, who also directed the diving thriller “47 Meters Down,” directs this horror film featuring Christina Hendricks (“Mad Men”), Bailee Madison (Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark), Martin Henderson (The Ring), and Lewis Pullman (Battle of the Sexes).

The film did well in theaters, considering that it opened against a very crowded box-office. “Strangers: Prey at Night” opened against Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time” and debuted at number three while “Black Panther” was still reigning the box-office. The thriller had a $10.4M opening weekend, and went on to make over $24M domestically.
