Universal Pictures has set a release date for “Thoroughbreds” on Digital HD and Blu-ray. The film will release first on Digital HD and the Movies Anywhere on May 22nd, then on Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand on June 5, 2018. Those version are being released through Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

You can find the Digital version of the film on iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon, and the retail versions are available on Amazon.com.

In the film, Lily and Amanda rekindle their childhood friendship and secretly develop a shocking plan that nobody sees coming. The dark-comedy was a hit with critics this year, featuring Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One, “Bates Motel”), Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, The Witch), Paul Sparks (“The Girlfriend Experience,” “House of Cards”) and the late Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Star Trek: Beyond).

The duo reconnect in suburban Connecticut after years of growing apart. Lily is now a polished, upper-class teenager at a fancy boarding school; Amanda has turned into a sharp-witted outcast with an attitude. Though they seem at odds, the pair bonds over Lily’s contempt for her oppressive stepfather (Sparks), and they begin to bring out one another’s most destructive tendencies. Their ambitions lead them to hire a local hustler (Yelchin) and take matters into their own hands to set their lives straight.

The film debuted on the limited box-office schedule back in May, the same weekend as “A Wrinkle in Time” and “Stranger Prey at Night”. The film still did well in theaters, bringing in over $1.2M across 549 theaters on opening weekend. The film went on to make over $2.8M.

The film’s digital-release will probably benefit from Olivia Cooke’s newest release, “Ready Player One,” a film that made over $41M on its opening weekend. “Ready Player One” has already grossed over $96M domestically, and over $393M worldwide. Cooke’s sudden surge in popularity will most likely bump “Thoroughbreds” digital debut on the weekend charts, and fans can look forward to seeing her in Dan Fogelman’s “Life Itself” with Olivia Wilde and Oscar Isaac.
